World Parkinson’s Day: 11th April 2023

 

On World Parkinson’s Day, we remember the contribution of the polymath James Parkinson; surgeon, apothecary, geologist and palaeontologist who, in his essay of 1817, first described the condition subsequently named after him.

We also salute current researchers, such as the team at the University of Manchester, led by Professor Perdita Barran, who are working to improve the diagnosis and management of Parkinson’s Disease. See this fascinating summary of their intriguing work with ‘super-smeller’ Joy Milne:
